Christmas was wonderful!

With this being Rylyn's first Christmas, we had a lot of fun with her. It took only about 2 seconds to figure out the gift thing. When she was not opening her stuff she tryed to help the closest person. It was cute.

I am really glad that noone got carried away this year with buying gifts for others. I did make some last minute gifts. Last Thursday I started a pair of mittens for Josh but ended up making them into fingerless gloves for my niece. I then went to Joanns and grabbed wool ease to make Josh his, which ended up fingerless as I thought he would like them better. So I proved to myself that I can make Mittens in about a day for a pair as long as they are a simple pattern.

Rick got me my ball winder and an M & M racecar candy dispenser. I love them both. I have not played with the ball winder yet. I hope to play tonight.

I am looking forward to knitting tomorrow night as it will be the last time I will be there for the whole night for about 12 weeks and it is our christmas party.

YEAH!!!!! Finals are over!!!!!!

Well finals are done. I am so excited I got A"s on all three finals and have A's in all three classes. Like I said before this is the first is the first time that I received straight A's in all my clases. I was not the best student growing up. It shows that age has a lot to do thing how well I do in school.

Well I have off until January 3rd. Then I start another set of three classes, Interpersonal relations, Intro to Macroeconomic, and informational systems. I think I should do about the same in these classes.

On the knitting front I have been working on finishing Ry's sweater for Christmas. I might have it done, if not its ok. It would have been an extra gift. I still need to finish the second fingerless glove for Ry. I will have it done on thurday at knitting.

I need to get focused on some projets. I need to frog the sweater I was doing for myself and start it over. I want to work on the shawl after the first of the year. I want to focus on making at least one pair of socks a month plus working on other projects.

fingerless gloves

I finished the fingerless gloves last night for myself. They are wonderfully soft. I used casade 220 that I have left over from mittens I made for Al last year. I will be working on Ry's other one tonight and maybe tomorrow night depending on how much I get done tonight.

Report report

Report is now done and I can relax (well for a minute or two) I still have finals this Thursday and Next Monday and Tuesday. Well I did better than I thought on the presentation. I just went online to check my grade and I got 30 out 30. I think the instructor is really easy when it come to things like that, but I do not care I will take full points for my presentation. As of right now I should be getting A's in all my classes, 2 of them perfect A 100% of the points. I do not mean to should like I am bragging cuz I am not. I am just excited as I have never received perfect A's before.

I started on the other fingerless glove for my last night and hope to have it done or almost done by Thursday so I can work on Rys other glove.

All nerves

Well, Report on St. Jude Medical in St. Paul completed, Power Point ready. Now I have to present the report in front of the class. I hate this part. I get so nervous, I feel like I am the deepest shade of red, my heart pounds so hard I have a hard time breathing. I know their is nothing to worry about and most of the people in class feel the same way. I just do not want to do it. (pout, pout) :(:(. My paper is pretty good, so I shoudl do well on that part.

On the knitting front I made one (right hand) fingerless glove for me on saturday, I was going to make the other one on Sunday, but got this great idea to make some for Ry. Well I have her Right hand one done too. So I will be working on getting the other hand done for both of us this week while I study for finals next week. (Pic later)

Holidays

When I was about 2 years old my step dad bought me a dress that had a coat and a tam, since then the tam was lost but I have that dress and coat. Alley wore this dress when she was about a year and a half. Well this Thanksgiving I took it out of the closet and Ry wore it. We are going to pass this dress down. I was thinking that I might try to find yarn that would match and recreate the tam. I will be sending the dress to the cleaners as it has not been cleaned for a while and needs some TLC. I will then type up a list of approx. dates when the dress was worn and put it with the dress. I am going to seal it with the seal a meal so the air does not get to it. I hope that will help to preserve it.

Now onto two of my favorate parts of the holiday season. My Christmas village and my Christmas tree.
My holiday village started the year Rick and I got together. My mom started the village for us and we bought at least one piece every year. Other family members would buy us pieces too. We now have over thirty pieces. These pictures do not do the village justice, but here goes.

My christmas tree is the a two day project to put up. I have an fake tree and as I put the tree up one branch at a time I put one light on each individual branch on the large branch. That adds up to a ton of lights. I have not counted the light for about 6 years but the last time I counted I had approx 2,000 lights on the tree. You can honestly read by the tree. I Love my tree. Today I went to my moms and got some of her ornaments that she did not want anymore. It was great I got ornaments that we on my moms tree when she was a little girl. Some of them were ones that were on the tree my whole life and that I bought for my mom. Again the photos do not do justice.

Pampering is wonderful

Today I had my free massage from school. It was wonderful. I let my therapist decide on what kind of massage I received. She told me that for all but my back she did a swedish massage and then for my back she did a deep tissue. Well I feel great except for my shoulder blade that she really worked on. I will feel better tomorrow. Not shure if the bosses like the fact that I was not good for much today after the massage. I felt like Jello most of the day. I will be signing up for more massages when they are opened up again.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We will be spend the day at my Mother in laws. Friday I will be one of the crazies that shops at unGodly hours in the morning. Then home to start putting up Christmas decorations.

OH my only three weeks left

Well started to work on my final paper for my Intro to Business course today. It is due in three weeks. so I thought maybe I should start. It has to be at least 4 pages with a power point presenation. When I present the paper it needs to be a minimum of 7 minute so I have a feeling it will be more than 4 pages. I have been assigned St. Jude Medical to write about. Since the start of class I have had to follow their stock, which by the way has dropped. I need to include why the stock did what it did no the paper, or least guess why it the stock dropped. Well I am on my way as I have one page just about done so I will try to write about a page a day for the rest of the week then I can edit it. I will more then likely have a couple of friends read it to make sure it flows. Other than that school is going great. I am getting really good grades in my classes.

We just registered for classes so next quarter I have Intro to Macroeconomics, Computer Imformation systems, and Interpersonal relations. These should not be to bad to do together. I was hoping to take the Comp class but it was only offer on a night I was not available.

As for knitting I am still working on the unoriginal hats for my small group girls. I now have only 3 done and I am going to run out of yarn on the fourth one (I know, Knit faster). I will need to wait until this weekend to get more yarn. I need to order yarn for christmas gifts, then knit the gifts. I have a feeling I will be giving the gift of yarn then knitting after christmas.

Soccer Tournements.

Well Nick team lost the both games at the soccer tournements this last weekend. I feel bad for most of the kids, they tried very hard. Their is one kid on the team that we have had run ins with. He thinks he is the best player on the team and wont pass the ball to anyone and when something goes wrong he gets in my sons face and tells him it was his fault. Nick does not even need to be near the ball for this kid to start telling Nick he should not be on the team, he is not good enough to play soccer at all let alone on the varsity team. My son and I have talked to the coaches about this issue and we are told Nick should just ignore him. Well, I now that I do not have any emotional disablities and I would not be able to take that on a daily bases. So how the Hell is a child of 15 (Mentally 10) to deal with this. Well on Friday night at in the middle of the game the kid got in Nicks face again this time pointing his finger about an inch from his face. I watch for a minute or so then was on my way to yell at the coaches when one went up to them to stop it. Well my son was very upset as expected and walked off the field. We finally got Nick to go back on the field, and the rest of the game was better. The coaches must have said something to the ASS HOLE (sorry don't like the kid) because he layed off Nick.

The next day before the game Rick and I went up to one of the coaches to make sure that they would be on top of this situation to make sure it did not happen agian. The coach that we were talking to called Nick over and talked to him about what he sould do if it starts again. Like it is Nicks fault. I told the coach that the other kid needs to be talked to also, and I was told that they talked to everyone. That was it, its like they only care to not upset the other kid. I am so angry that the coachs do not feel that this is a problem even though I have told them that Nick does not want to play (softball, which is in the spring)because of this kids. All they say is we need you. The Coachs asked me what they should do about this? Isn't that their job to know how to deal with bullys. I do not care if this is a team for kids with disablities or not harrassment is still harrassment and wrong.

Ok enough venting, Sunday the family went to the Water Park of America and had a blast. We found out Ry does not like water on her head and she love the family hot tub. We spent about 4 hours playing in the water and all came home exhusted. This was great family time.

On the knitting front I have made 2 1/2 unorignal hats. I still have 4.5 to make for my small group girls. I was hoping to have them done by Wednesday, but with class and home work I do not think I will be able to get more than the other have done. I will need to give Rach back her needs on Thursday, cuz I don't feel right keeping them longer as she also want to make the hats. I will go this weekend and purchase my own needles.

Misc thoughts

I need help as you can see I changed my colors. Now I have a wrench on the side bar. I did not change anything else, so how do I get rid of them?

I thought with the season changing I would change the colors of my blog. Well I am also still trying to figure all this out. I am hoping to add link buttoms but just don't exact understand how to do it. Well the updates will have to wait until after I am done with the chapter readings that I have to do for my Into to Business Class on Monday. Maybe I will do some reading and when I need a break I will try to figure this thing out.

On another note; Nick's Soccer team has their first state Tournament game tonight at 5:00 pm. This should be interesting as they are planning the #1 team from the North division and they are in 4th place for the South Division. This is the first time in about 4 years that this team is not going into the State Tournements in first place and they are really struggling with that. The games are held at Stillwater High School, which is nice as it is only about 15 minutes from my house. Well I will try to post pics this weekend.(sometime Mac does not want to give me my photos.)

Lisa posted about women doing "cat calls" to men. Lisa I have to agree with you that it is wrong for anyone to do that, and about the double standards, most men would not care and would more than likely think it was flattering to have a pretty women doing "cat calls" to them, but if the person(s) doing the "cat calling" is not their ideal person they get upset. Personally I don't think anyone should be doing it in the first place, but that is just me.

I finished one of the unorginal hats from Yarn Harlot, because I did not swatch before the hat is for Ry and will only fit for a very short amount of time, as it is small now. Thanks to Rachel I started another one with different yarn and borrowed needles from Rachel. I hope this will turn out bigger. Again I did not swatch so we will see what I get.

I guess this should be it for now I should really do some work.

Yeah mid terms are done

Well, last night was my last mid term. I am pleased to say I think I did very well. If things keep going the way they have been I think I will walk away with A's in all three classes. I am very happy with the way this quarter is going. We start to register for the next quarter classes on Nov 12th. I think I know that classes I want to take next quarter, Composition,Accounting 1, and MS office II. Again I will be short one credit to be considered full time but 3 classes is enough for me at one time.

Well for knitting. I frogged the shawl again. As I was changing colors I noticed that the pattern was messed up again. I think I will need to work on this when Liz is around to have her look at it to see if it is me or the pattern. More than likely it is me. I am working on finishing Ry's sweater. I am going to look in my stash to see if I have the yarn to make the unoriginal hat from the yarn harlot. I need a new hat and if it work out as well as I hope I might make some for christmas gifts. As I have not started any holiday knitting.

I have been working on updating my raverly site. only spend about a 1/2 hour working on it. So not much else done. I also have tryed to put a link on the blog but it did not work.

Happy Halloween to all

Tonight Rick will be home passing out candy. I will be taking Ry out cuz Alley and Ryan have to work. I will be making my way to Ry's Great Grandparents and my be some friend depending on what time it ends up to be. Nick will be going out for the last time as Ireally think 15 is getting way to old to go out.

When I get back tonight I need to do some studing as we are having mid terms next week. I did take one mid term last night and I think I did rather well. it was the best mid term I have taken. It was an M & M test. All the problems related to the bag of M & M the instructor hand out. I Love M & M's so that was way to cool.

I really am having a hard time with all my knitting projects lately. I want to frog them all. My shawl-can't get the pattern to set up right, Sweater- stopped working on it and forgot were I was, also do not totally understand the pattern. Sock- to tight. I am thinking I will start on the shawl again as it has been put away for a little while and I will be fresh. This time I think I will double check every row when I am done with the row to make sure it is correct. I really want to be working on that right now. I might also finish a sweater I started for Ry. I only have the front to do and it is really easy and quick.

Well I hope everyone has a spoooky Halloween.

Life is stressful at the moment.

We to update everyone. My mom's hip surgery went well. Unfortunely we were starting to see signs of her mental illness coming back. So it is evident that she is not taking her meds correctly or that they are not the right doseages. My opinions is mostly that she is not taking them correctly with a little that they are no longer the right doseages. So my sisters and I have to meet to decuss how we are going to handle this. We need to see if she would give my older sister and myself medical power of attorney so we can talk to the doctors about all the meds she is taking as we do not think she is telling all the diffent doctors what she is taken. (this is part of her thing, to not let anyone person know exactly what is going on, she must make sure you only know part of the story.)

School is going well for me, but not so well for Rick. He is going to drop one class as he is not getting it and has a tutor. Everyone that he talks to thinks it is he instructor as there are many that are not getting it in his class. So this is stressing me alittle. Also the fact that he is not working at the moment and the money is starting to run out is really stressing me. He is looking everyday and having interviews but nothing is coming of it.

Ok enough venting. I am currently working on my natilie sweater and a pair of socks. The sweater has been sitting in a bag since I started school but I plan to work on it this weekend or I will never get it done. The socks are just my mindless knitting that everyone needs. I am trying something new I am putting in a cable on the front side. So far I really like the way it is looking. I have never done cables before so this is really fun.

Well I should get back to work.

Back to school

Well last night was the first class. Intro to Business, should be fun, I have never had a class that on the first night the instructor expected that you would have ready the first chapter before ever setting foot in the class. Well, it went fine noone read the chapter. Unfortunately we now have 3 chapters to ready by next monday 106 pages. Should not be to hard unless the other classes I have Tuesday and Thursday do the same thing, because I also have other home work for the class.

I have started to pull the research for the paper I have to do. We were assigned a company to watch their stock and to write about what they do, decisions they would need to make etc. My company is St. Judes Medical. I was happy to get that company as I been interested in the company for a while.

Well I have a math class tonight(yuk) not my best subject. Well I need to get past this as I will have a few more math classes to take so I better get good at it.

Thursday I have MS Office Professional I. This should be fairly eaisy as I use office at work and home. There is plenty I will learn but it should not be to hard.

Well need to finish some things at work before I get out of here.

Not blog smart

Ok so I am not the smartest when it comes to this blogging stuff.I was reminded that some of you might went to know who I am on Ravelry. Well my name is so original: stephpknits. I need to work on being more creative. Also I still do not totally understand how you add link pics to the blog like amazon or ravelry. Liz was nice to tell me how to do this so I will be trying this tomorrow when I have some time. Wish me luck. I hope I do not mess things up.

I have updated photos on ravelry (which took me 45 mins to upload 2 stinking photos) I so meed to spend more time working on doing different things on the computer.

Ok Need to go to sleep so more tomorrow.

Ravelry

I made it into Ravelry. I have now started to enter information into it. I have a feeling that I will be updating for a long time. I will need to take many photos to upload to flickr also. I can not wait to have the time to really work on it.

I will be going to knitting group tomorrow, but I will be late as I have orientation for school. I will be working on dish clothes for the donation basket that I will be putting together for Crikets benefit. Couple of wonderful friends have told me that they have completed some dish clothes for me. I really appreciate all that they are doing for my step brother.

what a wonderful weekend

We had a wonderful weekend. Nick started working at McDonalds. We are very pround of him for getting this job. About a month ago he came home from dinner at McDonalds on evening, and told us he wanted to apply at McDonalds. With his disablities we were not sure if he was ready and if he would get the job. Well he did and started friday night and is doing great.

Saturday we took Rylyn, Alley and Ryan to Afton Apple orchard. We had such a good time. Rylyn ate her first apple picked right from a tree. She really liked it. Later Saturday night she started to say appo. It was so cute.

Sunday Rick and I went to look at a house that one of my bosses have listed. On the way I told Rick we should start by looking at a home that we could really afford. So we went to an open house of another one of my bosses listings. Well we fellin in love with this house. We will be working on seeing if we can qualify for the mortgage for the house.

We had Alley and Rylyn over for dinner and dessert as it was Rylyn's 1st birthday.

On July 25, 2007 Cricket was diagnosed with Glioblstoma Multiforme a brain tumor. Cricket is a 38 year old husband and father of three sons and is currently undergoing tratment for the brain tumor.

The North St Paul- Maplewood- Oakdale school district 622 has employed Cricket for the past 15 years. He started out as a night custodian, and is currently a bus driver and maintenance worker. Sheep are Gross

Well had another long weekend working at the fair Satyurday and Sunday. On Monday my friend Rachele from knitting and I started to process the fleece that I was given by my boss.

She has one Sheep. This fleece was gross, dirty. I knew that the fleece would be dirty and have some waste on it, but this was nasty. Well Rachele and I had a good time anyways. Can't you tell.

Here is the fleece being cooked on the Grill. We used the Yarn Harlots method to washing fleece. We did do this on the grill so the house would not smell and it really would have smelled. Just ask Rachele.

It is amazing how clean this really came.

Before

After

Well we still have a lot more to wash as this was a long process and did notwash that much at a time. I am trying to figure out how to do this process in much much larger quanity.
I can't was to card it and then start to spin it.

Busy couple of days

This last weekend I work the state fair at El Sol Mexican food in the corner of the food building. The best Mexican food in town. I have worked on and off for them since I was 13 years old. I will be working Sat and Sun this weekend also. I is fun but by 4:30- 5:00 I am so ready to get off work and out my feet up. I had forgotten that when you have a job that you sit on your A** for 40 hours a week how much your feet can hurt when you all of a sudden decide to stand on them on concrete for 8 Hour a day.

On sunday we found out that Ricks uncle passed away and we had to go to Superior on Tuesday night for the Funeral on Wednesday. Alley had to work so we took Rylyn by ourselves, most of the family up there have not met her yet. We had a great time. We stayed at the Days Inns Bayfront. We had a room that faced the lake. As we were waititng for Rick's Girls to get to the hotel (they live in Clover, MN. about an hour from Superior) I was looking out the window and about twenty feet from our window was a beaver. (I will post pics later). When Ricks girls got to the hotel with the grandson Elijah and we all went swimming. We had a good time. I do not think that Elijah likes the water much as he did not spend much time in the water, On the other hand Rylyn was in a little floaty thing and was toling around the pool like it was nothing. She also likes to put her face in the water. I guess mom will need to get her into swimming lessons very soon.

The funeral was nice. It was nice to see some of Ricks family that we only see when someone dies. Isn't it a shame that families get like that when you only see them when someone dies or gets married. I wish we would stay in contact with some of them and get together more often.

I did get my yarn from Sarahs yarn on Monday so I started my Icelandic shawl. I am please with what I have done so far (which is only about and inch). I only worked on it on the way up to superior about 2 hours. I was too tired to work on it on the way home. I will be going to knitting tonight and will be working on it all night.

Now I need to vent.

Yeterday Rick's car needed a jump at 4:30 pm. He was at 494 and France. So I went to help him thinking it was not the best time to be going that direction but it wont be too bad. Until I get to 494 and 24th (by MOA) there I sit for 10 minutes not moving looking at the exit. Thinking should I get off and o the frontage road as far as I can? After 15 minute and I have moved one car length I decided to go for it. I kept thinking it had to be a really bad accident to make it so we did not move. As I was going past one to the roads that went over 494 I looked and there was a police car blocking the bridge. I thought or the accident is there so if I go to the next cross street I should be able to get back on 494. We I was not the only person that decided to exit 494 so the traffic was really bad. As I sat waiting to be able to move about 3 car lengths per light I hear on the radio that the problem was not an accident it was that our wonerful President of the United States was on his was to Eden Prairie.

Ok now that you know the details here is my event.

Who has decided that the President's schedule is more important than the rest of the world. I do understand that he needs to have protection and they need to close roads to keep him safe. But come on He was going to a fund raiser for someone, do ya think that maybe he could have arrived alittle earlier or maybe an hour later so he would not have stop the traffic on the south side of town. You know Eden Prairie has a small airport why could he not have taken a chopper there then drive to the hotel? It is a good thing that I did not have a child to get from daycare as I would not have made it in time. It took me over an hour to get from 494 and 24 th to 494 and France. I sorry but that is NUTS.

OK enough venting.

Sunday at the Zoo

We had a great day even though it was a wet day. We took Allie, Rylyn and Nick to the Minnesota Zoo. I think Rylyn had the best time watching the fish at discovery bay.

She also liked the new Minnesota trail with the Otters.

The one thing she was not to sure of was petting the animals at the farm. She did feed some goats and that was ok.
When we were about ready to leave for the day that is when the skys decided to open up. At this point we were at the farm so we took the track ride back as far as it went. After that we were left with the 3 umbrellas for 5 people. we finally just carried Ry and ran as fast as we could so we did not get to wet.
All and all we had a very nice day.

Friday, August 17, 2007

I just checked were I am on the list for Ravelry here it is:

You signed up on July 17, 2007
You are #17825 on the list.
8492 people are ahead of you in line.
8471 people are behind you in line.
34% of the list has been invited so far

I think it will be while before I see the site. Oh well, I lived this long without being on the site I can wait a little longer.

We this weekend we are hoping to take my car and dog to Globe Univerisity in Woodbury for a car/dog wash to help raise money for the students in the Vet Tech class to go to a pet sancutary. I hope it does not rain so they can raise a lot of money.

We are taking Ry to the Minnesota Zoo on Sunday. We went to the Library and got the free passes to the Zoo. I can't wait to see her at the zoo as she is really starting to show interest in things. The Farm should also be fun when she can pet the animals.

I am still waiting for my yarn from Sarah's Yarn. I did contact her today and found out the manufacturer has shipped her the yarn so she should be getting it in the beginning of next week so my should be shipping by the middle of next week. I can wait I want to start on that NOOOW. OK so I need to have patience. Which I am not very good at. I am really tired of working the socks that I started to hold me over. I have about an inch left before starting on the toes. I will be done with these by the time I get my yarn. I have only been working on them on Thursday Nights so the process is slow.

Crazy weekend

Friday night we had thunder storm that killed the power all over the cities including Alley (daughter) Apartment building. They lost power at about 4 am. So she felt the need to show up at our house at about 7 Am Saturday Morning, I really don't mind but I was up late reading a book that Rachele from knitting has lent me. The book is "My Sisters keeper". As I started to read this book I felt that I have read this before. ButI do not remember reading this as it is not what I normally would read. I asked Rachele to help me expand on what I read. I do like this book and will be looking for more books my this writer. Well

Saturday the family went to the Irish fair on Harriet Island. We had a great time. We watched the Irish dancers and decided that when Rylyn (granddaughter)get old enough to so try it we will do our best to get her started. Nick (youngest son) learned how to play Tara (Irish Game) and loved it so we are going to look at getting the game for him for christmas. I watched part of it and it looks interesting. Alley decided she wants to have an Irish wedding when she decides to get married.

Sunday we started out grocery shopping then we were going to go to the Zoo, but by the time we got done shopping and Rylyn was done with her nap it was already 2 and we decided that we would wait to go until next weekend and we would leave in the morning. Ryan and Alley are borrowing one of our cars. The only problem with that is the car they are borrowing has an electrical problem and sometimes decides not to start. So we have had to go over and jump start the car a couple times on Sunday. Which was a major pain in the a**. One time when we were going to go do this I was backing out of the drive to find I had a flat tire. NOT what I needed at that point of my day. When we got the tire change we found that I had a huge piece of wood in my tire. My Brother in-law brought us fire wood and left a mess in the driveway. What bothered me the most about it is that when we talked to him about the tire and the mess he just said "then maybe we should have been there to help him" I would have been happy to help him unload the wood if he would have called before he showed up. A Sorry would have been nice. But I guess that is to much to ask.

Ok enough complaining.

Painting and Moving

Well the weekend was a full one. With A and R moving out. Hubby, A and I spent the Saturday painting R's room (Teal and Raspberry Pinky purple) Pic to follow forgot the camera. Then we put up Little Mermaid decals. The room is sooooo cute. Of course Grandma and Grandpa went to K-mart, found a lamp and Valance with Little Mermaid on them so we had to buy them to make our Princesses room perfect. We then spent the rest of the day and part of Sunday helping them move more items over to the new apartment.

As for knitting I worked on my socks while Hubby and I went out to coffee with my B-i-l. I turned the heel and started the gussett. I am still impatiently waiting for my yarn for the Icelandic shawl. Still have over a week before she gets the yarn in her shop so it will probably be about two weeks until I receive the yarn in my grubby hand.

I will not promise to post everyday or even every week. I will do my best to post often.

I am currently working on a pair of sock on two circular needle. I will soon be starting the Icelandic shawl as soon as my yarn arrives as it is on back order at this point. Should be in on August 15 the sent to me. I have some projects for my grandaughter R the I need to do for Christmas.

I am sooooo excited I receive fleece from my boss. Now a friend from my knitting group and I are going to process it and them she is going to teach me to spin the wool.
