Busy couple of days

This last weekend I work the state fair at El Sol Mexican food in the corner of the food building. The best Mexican food in town. I have worked on and off for them since I was 13 years old. I will be working Sat and Sun this weekend also. I is fun but by 4:30- 5:00 I am so ready to get off work and out my feet up. I had forgotten that when you have a job that you sit on your A** for 40 hours a week how much your feet can hurt when you all of a sudden decide to stand on them on concrete for 8 Hour a day.

On sunday we found out that Ricks uncle passed away and we had to go to Superior on Tuesday night for the Funeral on Wednesday. Alley had to work so we took Rylyn by ourselves, most of the family up there have not met her yet. We had a great time. We stayed at the Days Inns Bayfront. We had a room that faced the lake. As we were waititng for Rick's Girls to get to the hotel (they live in Clover, MN. about an hour from Superior) I was looking out the window and about twenty feet from our window was a beaver. (I will post pics later). When Ricks girls got to the hotel with the grandson Elijah and we all went swimming. We had a good time. I do not think that Elijah likes the water much as he did not spend much time in the water, On the other hand Rylyn was in a little floaty thing and was toling around the pool like it was nothing. She also likes to put her face in the water. I guess mom will need to get her into swimming lessons very soon.

The funeral was nice. It was nice to see some of Ricks family that we only see when someone dies. Isn't it a shame that families get like that when you only see them when someone dies or gets married. I wish we would stay in contact with some of them and get together more often.

I did get my yarn from Sarahs yarn on Monday so I started my Icelandic shawl. I am please with what I have done so far (which is only about and inch). I only worked on it on the way up to superior about 2 hours. I was too tired to work on it on the way home. I will be going to knitting tonight and will be working on it all night.

Now I need to vent.

Yeterday Rick's car needed a jump at 4:30 pm. He was at 494 and France. So I went to help him thinking it was not the best time to be going that direction but it wont be too bad. Until I get to 494 and 24th (by MOA) there I sit for 10 minutes not moving looking at the exit. Thinking should I get off and o the frontage road as far as I can? After 15 minute and I have moved one car length I decided to go for it. I kept thinking it had to be a really bad accident to make it so we did not move. As I was going past one to the roads that went over 494 I looked and there was a police car blocking the bridge. I thought or the accident is there so if I go to the next cross street I should be able to get back on 494. We I was not the only person that decided to exit 494 so the traffic was really bad. As I sat waiting to be able to move about 3 car lengths per light I hear on the radio that the problem was not an accident it was that our wonerful President of the United States was on his was to Eden Prairie.

Ok now that you know the details here is my event.

Who has decided that the President's schedule is more important than the rest of the world. I do understand that he needs to have protection and they need to close roads to keep him safe. But come on He was going to a fund raiser for someone, do ya think that maybe he could have arrived alittle earlier or maybe an hour later so he would not have stop the traffic on the south side of town. You know Eden Prairie has a small airport why could he not have taken a chopper there then drive to the hotel? It is a good thing that I did not have a child to get from daycare as I would not have made it in time. It took me over an hour to get from 494 and 24 th to 494 and France. I sorry but that is NUTS.

OK enough venting.

Sunday at the Zoo

We had a great day even though it was a wet day. We took Allie, Rylyn and Nick to the Minnesota Zoo. I think Rylyn had the best time watching the fish at discovery bay.

She also liked the new Minnesota trail with the Otters.

The one thing she was not to sure of was petting the animals at the farm. She did feed some goats and that was ok.
When we were about ready to leave for the day that is when the skys decided to open up. At this point we were at the farm so we took the track ride back as far as it went. After that we were left with the 3 umbrellas for 5 people. we finally just carried Ry and ran as fast as we could so we did not get to wet.
All and all we had a very nice day.

I just checked were I am on the list for Ravelry here it is:

You signed up on July 17, 2007
You are #17825 on the list.
8492 people are ahead of you in line.
8471 people are behind you in line.
34% of the list has been invited so far

I think it will be while before I see the site. Oh well, I lived this long without being on the site I can wait a little longer.

We this weekend we are hoping to take my car and dog to Globe Univerisity in Woodbury for a car/dog wash to help raise money for the students in the Vet Tech class to go to a pet sancutary. I hope it does not rain so they can raise a lot of money.

We are taking Ry to the Minnesota Zoo on Sunday. We went to the Library and got the free passes to the Zoo. I can't wait to see her at the zoo as she is really starting to show interest in things. The Farm should also be fun when she can pet the animals.

I am still waiting for my yarn from Sarah's Yarn. I did contact her today and found out the manufacturer has shipped her the yarn so she should be getting it in the beginning of next week so my should be shipping by the middle of next week. I can wait I want to start on that NOOOW. OK so I need to have patience. Which I am not very good at. I am really tired of working the socks that I started to hold me over. I have about an inch left before starting on the toes. I will be done with these by the time I get my yarn. I have only been working on them on Thursday Nights so the process is slow.

Crazy weekend

Friday night we had thunder storm that killed the power all over the cities including Alley (daughter) Apartment building. They lost power at about 4 am. So she felt the need to show up at our house at about 7 Am Saturday Morning, I really don't mind but I was up late reading a book that Rachele from knitting has lent me. The book is "My Sisters keeper". As I started to read this book I felt that I have read this before. ButI do not remember reading this as it is not what I normally would read. I asked Rachele to help me expand on what I read. I do like this book and will be looking for more books my this writer. Well

Saturday the family went to the Irish fair on Harriet Island. We had a great time. We watched the Irish dancers and decided that when Rylyn (granddaughter)get old enough to so try it we will do our best to get her started. Nick (youngest son) learned how to play Tara (Irish Game) and loved it so we are going to look at getting the game for him for christmas. I watched part of it and it looks interesting. Alley decided she wants to have an Irish wedding when she decides to get married.

Sunday we started out grocery shopping then we were going to go to the Zoo, but by the time we got done shopping and Rylyn was done with her nap it was already 2 and we decided that we would wait to go until next weekend and we would leave in the morning. Ryan and Alley are borrowing one of our cars. The only problem with that is the car they are borrowing has an electrical problem and sometimes decides not to start. So we have had to go over and jump start the car a couple times on Sunday. Which was a major pain in the a**. One time when we were going to go do this I was backing out of the drive to find I had a flat tire. NOT what I needed at that point of my day. When we got the tire change we found that I had a huge piece of wood in my tire. My Brother in-law brought us fire wood and left a mess in the driveway. What bothered me the most about it is that when we talked to him about the tire and the mess he just said "then maybe we should have been there to help him" I would have been happy to help him unload the wood if he would have called before he showed up. A Sorry would have been nice. But I guess that is to much to ask.

Ok enough complaining.

Painting and Moving

Well the weekend was a full one. With A and R moving out. Hubby, A and I spent the Saturday painting R's room (Teal and Raspberry Pinky purple) Pic to follow forgot the camera. Then we put up Little Mermaid decals. The room is sooooo cute. Of course Grandma and Grandpa went to K-mart, found a lamp and Valance with Little Mermaid on them so we had to buy them to make our Princesses room perfect. We then spent the rest of the day and part of Sunday helping them move more items over to the new apartment.

As for knitting I worked on my socks while Hubby and I went out to coffee with my B-i-l. I turned the heel and started the gussett. I am still impatiently waiting for my yarn for the Icelandic shawl. Still have over a week before she gets the yarn in her shop so it will probably be about two weeks until I receive the yarn in my grubby hand.

My very first blog

I have finally decided that I needed to catch up with the rest of the world and have a blog.
I will not promise to post everyday or even every week. I will do my best to post often.

I am currently working on a pair of sock on two circular needle. I will soon be starting the Icelandic shawl as soon as my yarn arrives as it is on back order at this point. Should be in on August 15 the sent to me. I have some projects for my grandaughter R the I need to do for Christmas.

I am sooooo excited I receive fleece from my boss. Now a friend from my knitting group and I are going to process it and them she is going to teach me to spin the wool.

We for now that is all. I will be working on getting pic of different item up on the site.
